I didn't hold out a lot of hope for these babies. I know, I know... ...inside every bad B20 cymbal is a good one just screaming to get out. But, really, these Z Dyno Beat Mastersound hats were not a good idea. Clangy! Clunky! Harsh! Not Musical! However, as often happens, I was dead wrong. A little extra hammering and some thinning on the lathe, and these sweethearts turned into a great set of hats! Still very articulate, but in a good way like a set of 602 Heavies. I didn't try to make a set of thin, jazz hats out of them. I just shot for a very nice sounding set of hats for use in rock, blues, funk, that sort of thing. To their credit, they surprised the Hell out of mewith how well they responded to just a little coaxing. |
